Careers
Year 12
All pupils participate in a one week Work Experience placement during September. Work Experience has been organised in Ashfield for the past 38 years and valuable contacts have been built up over this time. This year a total of 87 different placements were used for 107 pupils.
Each pupil is assessed, and her needs prioritised, before being interviewed on an individual basis by a Careers Adviser from the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL).
In the Summer Term pupils take part in a mock interview during Sentinus Interview Skills Day, when up to 20 Advisers assist in interviewing pupils and providing constructive feedback.
A Sixth Form Choices Booklet, giving details of all the courses available in Years 13 and 14, is given to each pupil and a Subject Fair is organised.
Advice and assistance is also given to pupils who are hoping to attend a Further Education College after completing their GCSE courses. Pupils are encouraged to attend the College Open Days which usually take place in March.
