Mrs Cripps, Mrs Mullaney, Stephanie Orr and Sarah Fullerton, along with members of Victoria College, have been given the opportunity to participate in an exchange programme with schools from India. This fabulous opportunity has been made possible by the British Council and the Shruti Foundation.
The Indian school (Uma Rana Public School, Sanghol – visit their website to find out about their school) is situated in the Punjab region, which is in north India.
The Ashfield team will be examining the differences and similarities between western and eastern music as well as experiencing the differences in education and culture. Mrs Cripps and Mrs Mullaney will be teaching all age groups as well as training teachers in effective ways of using ICT in education. Stephanie and Sarah will be helping both pupils and teachers. They will also be delivering a joint presentation at the WE-ASC World Education Culture Congress in Delhi, highlighting the differences that they have experienced. The team will be displaying information about Ashfield during the congress and have been invited to attend a gala evening.
When the team returns at the end of next week, they will be sharing their experience and will continue to develop the relationship built with the staff and pupils from the Uma Rana Public School through online collaboration.
