Challenging girls today, creating women of value for the future
Student Council in Ashfield
In Ashfield we have a Student Council that will give you a chance to say what you want and know you will be listened to. It allows everyone in the school to make decisions about how the school is run. It also involves you in the school community in developing shared standards of behaviour and have experience of creating new ideas and initiatives.
Every year each form class will nominate two representatives from their class to represent them at Student Council. These representatives meet every Friday to discuss their classes’ ideas. This is an opportunity for your class to express how they feel, and to come up with ideas on how we can all work together for a better school. Being a representative comes with a lot of responsibility.
This year we have made a number of decisions about our school including the design of our new school skirt, house names for our new House System, that will launch next year, and suggestions to the canteen staff on menu ideas.
To be a representative you have to be committed, confident, fair and respectful. If you want to make a difference or bring something new to the school while widening your opportunities, being a Student Council representative is the thing to do.
