Special Needs in Ashfield
How do we know if your child has Special Needs?
All Year 8 pupils are tested on admission using standardised tests in English and Maths, for the purpose of identifying Special Needs and to provide teachers with baseline information.
If a pupil is identified as having a special need, she will then be placed on the school’s Special Needs register.
A number of pupils will receive support from in the Learning Zone for Literacy and/or Numeracy.
Some pupils will receive support to help with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Social Skills group work is also available.
Pupils with SEN may receive concessions during examinations. Staff receive up-to-date training to meet the needs of all pupils.
Provision for SEN is monitored and reviewed each term.
We also have 10 Classroom Assistant who may be available to help your daughter at certain times.
