Induction Year 8 and 13

Year 8 Induction

Moving from primary school to high school is a significant transition. At Ashfield Girls’ High School we have a well planned Year 8 Induction Programme that begins in Primary 7. The Pastoral Team initially visits Primary 7 pupils in June to welcome successful pupils into the ‘Ashfield Family’. Our Primary 7 Induction Afternoon in June is a great opportunity for pupils to view the outstanding school facilities again and meet their Form Tutor and classmates and enjoy the tasty ‘Sausage Sizzle’ organised by Ashfield Parents and Friends.

The transition process is continued in August when Year 8 pupils have further opportunities to make new friends during Young Enterprise and Team Building events. Towards the end of September, parents and carers are invited to attend a ‘Meet the Principal and Form Tutor’ evening to further forge strong home/school relationships. Our Year 8 Parent Consultation in Term 1 provides parents and carers with individual feedback on pupil progress.

Year 13 Induction

As a school we believe very strongly in the holistic development of our students and understand that the step up to Sixth Form study can be a challenging one. In preparation for entering this next chapter in our students' educational journey, Year 13 embark on an induction programme each year to prepare term for success both inside and outside the classroom. Our induction programme is tailored to A level requirements, encompassing study and key academic skills. It also includes presentation skills, careers guidance, first aid, promotion of healthy lifestyles and mindfulness.
